Lucas Oil Modified and Sportsman Series Races Rescheduled

BROCKVILLE-It was not the kind of night racers, fans or officials wanted on Saturday night at Brockville Ontario Speedway.  The result was a marathon for everyone with two regular features getting completed between the rain drops and the 100 lap 358 Modified Canadian DIRT Challenge Series event and the 30 lap Lucas Oil Sportsman series clash being rescheduled for October 18th, 2008.

"I'd like to apologize to our fans and our teams, it would be a massive understatement to say the night did not go the way we hoped or planned, " said Brockville promoter Paul Kirkland.  " Saturday night to put it simply was not good enough. I really hope everyone will return in October to see us at our best.  I can assure everyone that we will work to ensure that the Series officials are more in tune with the needs of both fans and teams alike when they arrive at Brockville in the future," he added.

The Modifieds did make it onto the track at the stroke of midnight, for the finale.  Dany Bilodeau quickly jumped into the lead with four cautions in the first four laps before the rains finally ended the night for good.  The race will be picked up at that point with the Quebec driver at the front of the field.  The Sportsman feature never did hit the fast tacky oval on this night.

One of those that went away with a night to remember was Chris Bakker.  Bakker picked up his first ever Rookie feature win, taking a classic four car battle for the top spot over the closing laps over Bob Ray, Josh Kane and Steve Barber.  Taylor McPhee rounded out the top five.  Dominic Gauvreau blasted away from the field in an ultra quick 20 lap Street Stock feature to score an easy win over Steve Kearney.  Steve Billings, Jack Code and Nicolas Gauvreau were third through fifth respectively.

Next Saturday night, August 9th Brockville Ontario Speedway roars back into action with double features for the Modifieds and Street Stocks plus singles for the Rookies and Sportsman along with a special 5 lap Sportsman challenge race between Jessica Power and Tabatha Murphy.  The green flag drops at 7pm.
