LaFrance Dominates Again in Run What U Brung Modified Showdown

BROCKVILLE-Stephane LaFrance loves to be creative.  He turns his creativity into a race car and even more specifically a Run What u Brung Modified that is part Modified, part Late Model and part wing.  When you put it together, you've got the fastest race car fans see every season at Brockville Ontario Speedway.  LaFrance dusted the field by a lap and a half easily winning his second annual 30 lap fiesta.

LaFrance's domination started in hot laps where he scorched the three eights of a mile clay oval, turning a time of 12.7 seconds.  He was running low 13's in the heats and had a best lap in the feature of 13.2 seconds as he just cruised to the win by a lap and a half despite a series of early cautions that kept bunching the field up.  Paul Pekkonen was a distance second followed by Kyle Dingwall, Mark Hitchcock and Adam Moore.  For Hitchcock, it was his final run as the well liked veteran pilot announced that after 27 seasons he was hanging up the helmet at the end of this season. He was given a standing ovation after addressing the crowd following the race.

Chris Raabe wasn't even supposed to be at Brockville on Saturday night.  However with DIRT tour stops in the Niagara Region rained out, the Napanee driver returned to his home track to take a pair of feature wins.  He started the night by taking the 30 lap Lucas Oil Sportsman Series event, giving the teenager a clean sweep of all four events in the multi track battle.  Things were alot more difficult in the regular 25 lap feature as Shane Pecore used some heady driving on a restart to capture the top spot from Cole Dingwall and seemed destined for the win until going just inches too high in turn four on the final lap.  That was all that Raabe needed to cruise on by and beat Pecore to the line by inches for the nightcap win as well.

Dominic Gauvreau continued his late season charge in the Street Stock division as he captured a caution filled 20 lap affair.  Ron Tyo made his first appearance of the year at the BOS and held off Chris Bakker to take the 16 lap Rookie finale.  This event was red flagged after a triple barrel roll in turn one by Tom Synder.  The car landed on his roof but Snyder emerged with a small limp and was looked at by Ambulance staff and released.  Jason Powers grabbed the victory in the Vintage 12 lap feature.

Brockville Ontario Speedway returns to action next Sunday afternoon, September 20th for the annual Kanes Towing Monster Enduro.  Race time is set for 2pm.
